22 weeks, a belly shot (!) and a story

Jet's house is growing. A lot.
I can't believe it's 22 weeks already. A downward slither of 18 weeks until we finally get to meet Jet!!

And a nice baby-related story - and how small the world really is.

A very good childhood friend (R) of mine fell pregnant late last year. A few weeks later, my best friend from high school (A) revealed that she was also pregnant with her 2nd. A and R sort of know each other both through me, and through R's husband, whom A went to school with (and incidentally, we all went to pre-school with 100 years ago). R lived in QLD, and A on the NSW coast. R moved to the same town A lives in, only recently, and they knew of each other living there through me. And I should mention that both babies were due about 2 weeks apart this August.

On Wednesday last week, I received the happy news that R had given birth to a beautiful baby girl, Madeleine Rose. Two days later A called to say she was right across the hall from R, and by the way, she had given birth to a beautiful baby boy, Cameron John.
Much excitement all round- and I'm heading down to visit them all next week!
But it certainly made me stop and think that it really is such a small world my two best friends at different stages through my life, who didn't really know each other, ending up in the same hospital a few hundred kilometres from where we all grew up.

The knitting 'thing' again

I'm still going!! *gobsmacked*
Here's photographic proof of the latest projects

Four hats completed - though one is tiny, so the baby can have that for a doll or teddy bear. The little white jacket didn't turn out quite as planned, and certainly nothing like the pattern, but hey - I've moved on from hats and bootees!
And I really should start doing things in bigger sizes. The poor kid is only going to have the first 3 months worth of clothes and then have to go naked after that.... although, at least by then it will be almost summer.

21 Weeks.... Yikes!

little baby foot. Ultrasound 20w2d

Already there is less time left being pregnant, than I've been pregnant!
Scary thought right there.

The belly is more poky than even a week ago, and I've been able to feel JET move for about the last 2 weeks. Cool, but kinda weird. Squirmy is the best way to describe it!

Recently we've travelled across 3 states in about a week and a bit. We left Canberra via Tamworth, then up to Brisbane, where Russ is catching his flight back to Belgium today. I'm at Mum and Dad's again for the next 3 weeks until I leave for Belgium at the end of the month. So much driving - but it's been good seeing everyone.

The knitting thing is still going, and already I've moved on from hats and bootees...... I'll have to post some more pics (I've STARTED a jumper - we'll see how that goes)!

Photos as promised... and another project!

Another project started..... after I made 2 attempts at bootees. Wasn't very succesful, so I moved on!
Bootees and Beanie c/- Yours truly! And jumper by Alice. The purple/blue colour is actually very purple, but the camera seems to have turned it more blue-ish.

As above, with 'model'

My first sewing achievment since about grade 7. 4 flannell Bunny rugs!!

Creativity Activity!

If I was asked to describe myself, in say, 500 words, "creative" is not exactly a word that would spring to mind, in probably the first 499 words.
That said, a few days of cold wet Canberra weather, coupled with a fat belly, and a tendency to not want to do much right now, I have sewed 4 bunny rugs, knitted 2 whole bootees, and have started on a baby beanie. (This baby is going to be the best dressed baby in town - with thanks to Alice for oufitting JET for the first 6 months of his/her life!)

I'm recording this for posterity.
It's unlikely to happen ever again.
I'm from the can-sew-can-knit-but-don't school of practice.

Still, I've rather enjoyed being all clever, and all that I've started manages to be finished pretty quickly to boot (probably why I can-but-don't: I never manage to finish things.)

Proof to be posted soon!

Almost 17 weeks

I look like a pot-belly stove.
But lack a certain stovie-ness. (the heat, the fire, the black iron) However, I have the pot-belly. It just suddenly appeared about 4 days ago.
And now my jeans are decidedly tight, and I feel really squashed after a meal. Poor Jet probably wishes I wouldn't eat!
The weekend was spent very, very busily in Mum and Dad's garden. Russ was driving the tractor all weekend, and loving it. We spread wood chips, connected the rainwater tank to the house, planted the orchard (all 6 trees of it!) and made 4 rose beds, (2 of which have been planted out) and a bulb garden.
Russ and Dad connecting the tank to teh house. No OHS issues here, right?!
Today I can just about muster the energy to go to town with mum, Russ is off bee-keeping or some such activity with Dad.
